Pumpkin Exhibit Construction Labourer (student)

POSITION:
PUMPKIN EXHIBIT CONSTRUCTION LABOURER (student) 

HOURS OF WORK:
variable up to 36.25 hours per week (must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings and holidays) 

LOCATION: 
Upper Canada Village 
(11 km east of Morrisburg) 

SALARY:
$16.35 per hour 

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
May to September 4, 2023 

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE? 

You will: 
• Assist the Lead Labourer in the assembly and construction of Pumpkinferno exhibit structures at Upper Canada Village. 
• Perform a variety of manual tasks, including lifting, transporting and constructing event exhibits. 
• Safely operate various carpentry-related hand and power tools.
• Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor
• Be a representative of one of Morrisburg’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites.
• Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.

HOW DO I QUALIFY? 

You have: 
• The physical ability to carry exhibit components (approximately 50 lbs.) and to meet other essential physical demands. 
• The ability to safely and effectively operate a ½ ton truck and various carpentry-related tools. 
• A valid driver’s licence. 
• Good communication skills in order to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions. 
• The ability to work in a team environment, alone and/or with minimal supervision.
• The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times.
