POSITION: MUSICIAN / PERFORMER (student) 
 
HOURS OF WORK: variable up to 36.25 hours per week 
 
LOCATION: 
Upper Canada Village 
(11 km east of Morrisburg) 

 
SALARY: $17.40 per hour 
 
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 
June to September 2024 
 
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE? 
 

You will: 

• Be a representative of one of Morrisburg’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites. 
• Interpret various aspects of the history of 1860s Ontario through music and drama-related activities and special events. 
• Lead children’s activity sessions as part of the on-site youth programs. 
• Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor. 
• Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests. 
 
HOW DO I QUALIFY? 
 
You have: 

• Proven ability to play the piano, brass, wind or string instrument. 
• The ability to read and transpose music. 
• The ability to sing harmony line. 
• Background in performing arts – music and drama. 
• The ability to communicate and to interpret effectively to large numbers of people of various ages and backgrounds. 
• The ability to communicate well with children. 
• The ability to study and learn the interpretive and historical material related to the position and the Village. 
• The ability to perform physical duties in order to carry out the various interpretive activities on site associated with the position(s) assigned. 
• The ability to wear historical costume. 
• The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, guest and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times. 
 
A vulnerable service sector check is required for this position. 

Student Status: You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year).
