Recreation and Leisure Attraction Worker (Student)

POSITION: RECREATION AND LEISURE ATTRACTION WORKER (student) 
 
HOURS OF WORK: variable up to 36.25 hours per week (must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays) 
 
LOCATION: 
Crysler Park Marina, Campground and Beach 
(9 km east of Morrisburg) 

 
SALARY: $16.55 or $17.40 per hour 
 
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
mid-May to September 1, 2024 (work available Thanksgiving Weekend, including Monday, October 9, 2024) 
 
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE? 

You will: 

• Greet and assist boaters, campers and day-use guests upon arrival, transport cruise line passengers to and from Upper Canada Village, Upper Canada Golf Course, etc. 
• Operate a cash register, and credit and debit terminals. 
• Complete paperwork such as camping and dockage forms, daily cash balance sheets, fuel pump readings, etc. 
• Pump fuel to boats, empty garbage containers, clean washrooms and showers, mow lawns, weed flower beds, remove seaweed, and clean windows and floors in the marina building and cabins. 
• Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor. 
• Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests. 
 
HOW DO I QUALIFY? 
 

You have: 

• The ability to operate (or willingness to learn how to operate) a VHF radio. 
• Communication and customer service skills to deal effectively with staff and guests. 
• The physical ability to carry out manual labour such as cleaning, pumping fuel, mowing, weeding, etc. 
• A willingness to wear a uniform, keeping it in proper condition at all times. 
• Knowledge of camping, and water and boating safety practices. 
• The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, guest and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times. 
• A valid driver’s licence may be required. 

Student Status:
You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year)
